Conflict in Eastern Congo

Many of us have been following the news of the M23 insurgence in Eastern Congo and the militia’s attack and current control of the highly populated city of Goma and surrounding areas. At this time, M23 nor its allies have moved into Ituri Province, where CKI is currently working, however the regional conflict will increase displacement and provide stumbling blocks for resource distribution.
We will continue to keep our community up to date on the situation and how it impacts the children we support. To learn more, we invite you to our upcoming webinar, How Did We Get Here? A Brief Political History of Conflict in the DRC. For this discussion, Dino Mahtani, journalist and regional expert, will be in conversation with board member and human rights activist Leslie Thomas about the root causes of instability and the current crisis. His recent overview in The Guardian provides additional context.
As always, the event will be recorded and we invite you to visit our YouTube channel for additional information.
